This individual will serve as the sole representative supporting medical records and release of information functions at a regional healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will safeguard patient privacy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and serve as a key point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare staff. Key Responsibilities Process medical record and ROI requests accurately and efficiently Verify authorizations and ensure records are released only to approved parties Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations Provide outstanding customer service to patients, families, and healthcare personnel Scan, fax, copy, and manage medical record documentation Maintain productivity, utilization, and quality standards Work independently while managing sensitive information Required Skills & Experience High School Diploma or GED required Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills Ability to operate scanners, copiers, and fax machines Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or within a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality Ability to maintain quality and productivity standards Top Skills – Must Haves: Customer Service Strong Interpersonal Skills Patient-First Mentality Medical Records Processing Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) Release of Information (ROI) Nice-to-Have Skills: 2+ years of medical records experience Healthcare industry experience Familiarity with HIPAA regulations Experience in hospital or clinical environments Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gloucester, VA.
